Since 1880, Effertz has been at the forefront of rolling door solutions and fire protection. For more than a century to today, we have consistently pushed boundaries – making shutters larger, safer and more reliable. Engineered to serve the full lifetime of a building – typically 30 to 50 years – our shutters are built to last.

In the late 1960s, we became the first company to launch fire-rated roller shutters approved by the German building authorities – a milestone that set a benchmark for safety.

Today, our portfolio includes fire-resistant curtains, smoke control curtains, and certified fire protection shutters for special applications. We built the roller shutters for the car and coach carriages of the Eurotunnel shuttle trains as well as the rolling doors that form the main fire zone on the world’s largest cruise ships.

Over the decades, we expanded our expertise beyond fire protection to rolling doors for smoke control, sound insulation, and flood protection.

In 1981, Effertz built a (fire) roller shutter measuring 20 metres wide, 14 metres high and weighing 30 tonnes – earning a place in the Guinness Book of Records. As one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of fire-resistant roller shutters, we deliver projects of extraordinary scale.
