Large doors made by Effertz
Roller shutters with two synchronized drives at both ends of the shaft, a tandem, are in our DNA. We have held the record for the largest fire roller shutter since 1980 and are therefore in the Guinness Book of Records. It protects the famous Theatre on Lehniner Square (“Schaubühne”) in Berlin. This safety curtain that separates the auditorium from the stage house in the event of a fire measures 20 m in width and 14 m in height and weights 15 t.
By the way, the roller shutters can also withstand the rattling of trains (the carriages that run through the Eurotunnel are equipped with our roller shutters, albeit in a slightly smaller size) and the pitching and rolling of ships. We protect the passengers on the gigantic cruise ships with fire protection roller shutters, which can easily be 18 m width and 12 m height.
We can build systems even bigger. They form entire walls of dry docks in shipyards and large assembly halls, and are usually used for heat and sound insulation. We have been helping our customers find the right solution for particularly large openings for many decades. Sometimes we even have to install mobile supports to withstand high wind load, for example. We enjoy what for others seems unsolvable tasks. That’s what we have a two-soccer-pitch-long production hall for.
If you have a large opening, we have the right roller shutter for you. Feel free to give us a call.
